1. Please pay by check. Submit an open check (payable to DVHA) with your entry form.  This will easily allow you to add and delete classes as the day progresses. At the end of the day when you return your number, you will be asked to fill in the final check amount.

 

2. One competitor/horse per entry form. Each horse/rider combination requires a   separate number.

 

3. Exhibitor should check with official starter (at the ring gate) with any questions or conflicts.

 

4. Ad hoc classes may be run at manager’s discretion if there are enough riders to fill the classes.

This show series is for HEAVY HORSES that would otherwise find it difficult to compete under saddle. If too refined, any horses may be excused at management’s discretion.

 

1.                  Registered Sporthorses and Warmbloods are not eligible at this show. However, heavy Half Drafts and Friesians will be allowed in Class 2, 10B, 11B, 12B, 13, 14, and 15. Please call ahead if you have any questions. 

 

2.         There are no driving classes at this show. Draft/mule driving has been combined

            in our regular series of driving shows.

 

3.         NO SCHOOLING WITHOUT A CLASS NUMBER, HELMET AND PROPER SHOES.

 

4.         Current Coggins required.

 

5.          ATMS/SEI helmets required.

 

6.         ONLY MOUNTED RIDERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOLING RING

 

 

ELIGIBLE DRAFT HORSE BREEDS (But by no means limited to):

English or American Shire, Percheron, Belgian Brabant, American Belgian, Clydesdale, Suffolk Punch, Ardennes, American Spotted Draft Horse, North American Cream Draft, Or full draft cross.

 

ELIGIBLE DRAFT PONY BREEDS (But by no means limited to): Icelandic, Gypsy Vanners, Halflinger, Norwegian Fjord, Shetland, or full pony cross

 

ELIGIBLE DONKEY/MULE BREEDS: All donkey/mule types welcome

 

FULL CROSS: Two full draft parents; honor system.

 

HALF DRAFT: One Full Draft parent; honor system.  Half drafts must be heavy to be eligible.

DVHA PRESENTS: RIDING FOR CANCER CARE

Draft High Point Award

June 15, 2008

In conjunction with DVHA’s Riding for Cancer Care fund raiser, the Draft Division will be awarding a gift certificate to the rider with the highest number of points for the day.

 

 

DRAFT DIVISION CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

HALTER DIVISION

DVHA Year End Award Sponsored by XXXXX

Halter Division begins at 9:00 AM

 

1. Halter – Horses to be judged on conformation, way of going, and appearance. Open to all exhibitors with full drafts, draft ponies, donkeys, and mules. Entrants will be asked to step forward, walk briskly, and return.

2. Grooming and Showmanship – Amateurs only, any age. Open to all exhibitors with full drafts, draft ponies, Friesians, donkeys, mules, and eligible heavy half drafts. Handler’s appearance and showmanship 20%. Horse’s grooming, turnout 80%. NOT JUDGED AS A CONFORMATION CLASS. Entrants will be asked to step forward, walk briskly, and return.

UNDER SADDLE DIVISIONS (Not to start before 9:30)

 

PLEASE NOTE: In deference to our heavy drafts and mule competitors:

-          There is no cantering at this show (except DraftKhana & Hunter at rider option)

-          Lighter drafts will not be favored over heavy types

-          The gaits of certain type draft types (i.e. the Icelandic pony’s tolt) are not to be penalized.

-          Proper English or Western attire and tack required. Helmets required for all riders.

 

DRAFT HORSE LEADLINE

3. Draft Horse Leadline – Walk only. Double riders permitted. Helmets required for all junior riders. Proper footwear required. Absolutely no sneakers, sandals or clogs. Open to all ages (adults can ride) but small children to be led by an adult. To be run as a FUN leadline class: costumes or themes optional. Emphasis on horse’s suitability and rider’s poise.  Big smiles count.

Rider to be judged on seat, hands, and control of mount. If entries warrant, division will be split into English and Western.

($5 PER RIDER – DVHA Members and Non Members)

DVHA Year End Award Sponsored by The New Jersey Draft Dolls

Walk-trot. Open to all riders on all draft horses, draft ponies, donkeys, mules, and eligible half-drafts. Will be judged 30% on team precision, 40% on a pleasure component, 30% on turnout. English or Western attire; matching attire or these encouraged. Teams should stay together around in the corners and turn smoothly together. If a small child in a family rides non-draft horse/pony, that mount is allowed in this class. All teams must ride abreast. If competing for DVHA Year-End Award, the same horse/rider combinations must ride each show. Please speak to show chairman if questions!

Open to all riders on all draft horses, draft ponies, donkeys, and mules. Horse to be judged on manners and suitability. Helmets required. Cantering is acceptable over fences at rider’s discretion in this division. NOTE: Must have three entries in each class to run this division.

DRAFKHANA (Draft Horse Gymkhana)

DVHA Year End Award Sponsored by XXX

 

Open to all riders on all draft horses, draft ponies, donkeys, and mules. English or Western attire. Helmets required for all junior riders. Canter or gallop is permitted in this division. Draftkhana events will most likely be (but will not be limited to) the three games listed below. Show Chair may substitute or add other games if participation warrants. DVHA Year End points or horse and rider team (riders must compete on the same horse for year-end award).
